California Telehealth Psychotherapy Services

A convenient way to receive mental health treatment

Getting Started

01 — Schedule a Free 15 Minute Consult

I offer a no obligation consultation free of charge. This will give you a chance to get to know me and what I have to offer. Ask any questions you may have about scheduling, treatment, payment, or whatever else you have in mind. At this time we can also set up our first appointment if desired.

02 — Scheduling and Set Up

You can also skip the consultation and set up your first session with me now by e-mailing me at DestinyMFT@gmail.com. For our sessions, you’ll need to have access to high speed internet connection either on your phone or your computer. You will also need to download an app if using your phone. Our interactions need to remain confidential, a private space is necessary in order to talk openly without distraction.

03 — Prior to Your First Session

I’ll be e-mailing you a link to additional information to review including a consent form that will need to be signed. The consent form, along with additional information, can be reviewed and signed electronically. This will need to be completed prior to our first session. In the consent form you will find additional information regarding how and when sessions are charged.

04 — What to Expect for the First Session

First session of treatment is considered an “intake” session and will take about 60 minutes. This is where I will be getting to know you and what brings you to therapy. I will be asking a lot of questions during this session; questions regarding your current situation, symptoms you’re experiencing, medical history, relationships, childhood experiences, education, occupation, amongst other questions. But most importantly, I’ll ask you how I can help you. If you don’t know quite how, don’t worry, I will work with you to figure that out. An intake session can become quite overwhelming for some. Just know you are in control of how much you would like to share. It is not necessary to provide detailed information during this time if you do not feel comfortable doing so. I suggest scheduling some time after this session to process and regulate yourself.

05 — A Typical Session

Sessions following the initial intake typically occur on a weekly basis at first and will vary in content, depending on what your focus of treatment will be. When utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Interpersonal Social Rhythm Therapy it is expected that you do work outside of our designated time together. In other words, you will have homework to do. This allows you to practice the skills and tools learned in therapy, outside of treatment with the intention that you will eventually no longer need therapy.

06 — Booster Sessions

Booster sessions are intended to be used as an occasional “pick me up” or “check up,” following the completion of your treatment. During these sessions, we will work together to review effective skills and techniques previously learned, work to identify possible triggers for returning symptoms and/or explore ways to continue to improve.

I look forward to working with you!

Relationships require maintenance, otherwise they are likely to fall apart. Even the relationship we have with ourselves.
